So what should Snow Globe look like?

This is a tricky one. Creating an elf that stands out from all the other elves. I didn't want him to be too old or too young. I needed him to be timeless. He needed to be pretty young in elf years, but old enough to be independent. We talked for hours on what he should look like. Should he have be pointy ears? A long pointy hat? How tall should he be? Is he fat or thin? Finally Sam picked up her favorite pencil and began to sketch. She came up with several different ideas, making each one slightly different, the only thing I insisted on was that he need mistletoe in his hat. We looked at having Snow Globe as a Victorian elf but some of these were a bit scary and not for this story. We decided that Snow Globe had been created in the Victorian era and was a family heir loom, passed down from generation and always sat pride of place on the mantle piece. He should have a solid bass that would stand the test of time and be some what regal in appearance. We talked about having him in a cage around the globe itself. We looked at Norwegian landscapes for the inside and having a little train going around as well. So many ideas for our little elf, but as always we have to keep it simple. Below are a few samples of Sam's amazing sketches and the first look at Snow Globe. Cheeky red cheeks were a must and those cute little elf booties. We are still to decide on a color palette, but early chats do suggest traditional Christmas colors with mistletoe in his hat!

So tell us what you think of Snow Globe the Rescue Elf. Is he what you imagined?
